June 10, 1846. Davenport, Iowa. The Iowa College Association formally founded Iowa College. Its mission would be to "promote the general interests of education" and prepare young women and men "for the honorable discharge of the various duties of life."
This Wednesday, June 10, we invite you to join fellow Grinnellians around the world in celebrating the 163rd anniversary of that historic founding day.
Wherever you go, wherever you are, wear something scarlet and black - something Grinnell - on Founders' Day, Wednesday, June 10. Wear a Grinnell lapel pin to work. Wear a Grinnell T-shirt during your workout. Wear a Grinnell cap for your evening walk.
Worried you have nothing Grinnell to wear? The College Bookstore has a variety of items in scarlet and black for you to wear on Founders' Day.
Following Founders' Day, we invite you to share your Grinnell encounters on Founders' Day. Did you discover a Grinnellian in your office, neighborhood, or favorite gathering place? Let us know: loggia.grinnell.edu/foundersday or loggia@grinnell.edu.
