Alumni relations staff help volunteers to plan events for Grinnellians worldwide. In an average year there are over 70 events across the country and the world. Close to home, we arrange potluck suppers for alumni living in Poweshiek County. Internationally, alumni and parents are invited to visit with travelers on our alumni study tours. There are alumni volunteers coordinating the activities in 16 major regions of the country, including the Summer Picnic Tour.
Each year, more than 800 alumni return to Grinnell to visit the campus, reconnect with old friends, and learn more about the ongoing strengths of the Grinnell experience.
The annual Alumni College provides former students with the opportunity to recapture their educational experience at Grinnell. With the guidance of Grinnell professors, participants explore new ideas and enjoy stimulating and thoughtful discussions.
Family Weekend is a complimentary event for Grinnell families. It includes many different activities, including campus tours, social meals, performances, and athletic events.
Conference Operations and Events maintains this comprehensive calendar of all campus activities. The Grinnell College Calendar is the center-point for all College activities.
Grinnell College is forming an alumni group to ride RAGBRAI (Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa). This year's RAGBRAI will take place July 19-25, 2009.
This past March, a group of alumni and students ventured to the Big Easy to help in the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. They (along with Grinnell students from the ReNew Orleans student organization) worked with the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana Office of Disaster Response on home rebuilding and repair.
