Each year during Reunion Weekend, the Alumni Council honors Grinnell alumni who have distinguished themselves by their extraordinary contributions of service to:
- the College,
- their profession, or
- their community

On May 30, 2009, Grinnell College recognized 14 remarkable Grinnellians during the annual Alumni Assembly at the 130th Annual Alumni Reunion. Click on the names below to learn more about the Alumni Award recipients:
(Please note: Current Trustees and Alumni Council members are ineligible to receive alumni awards. However, if nominated, nominations will be held for future consideration.)
Distinguished Alumni Award: The Distinguished Alumni Award(s) may be given once a year to a member of the 50th reunion class (or older). This award(s) should be given to an alumnus who epitomizes the Grinnell spirit. Receipt of a Pioneer Alumni Award or Reunion Award will not exclude someone for considerations of this award. Recipients of this award need not be in attendance at Reunion.
Alumni Award: Open to all reunioning class years. Recipients of the Grinnell College Pioneer Alumni Award are not eligible for this award. This awardee must be in attendance at Reunion.
Pioneer Award: Recipients of this award are a member of a 10th reunion (or younger) class whose contributions go far beyond what has been achieved by their peers. This awardee must be in attendance at Reunion.
