Originally from Peru, Max Cardenas, a philosophy major with a global studies concentration, has worked for the past 10 years to create economic development networks and outreach strategies for multicultural communities in central Iowa. He cofounded the Latino Leadership Project for access to higher education. In 2008 he started Empressa Group, which provides technical assistance to immigrant entrepreneurs. Cardenas’ passion for emerging markets also led to his consulting for GCommerce, a supply-chain technology firm for which he is Latin American market manager.
