Transfer Finds a Home

After three semesters at the University of Florida playing on the club tennis team, Dmitriy transferred to Grinnell to play on the men’s varsity tennis team. What he found at Grinnell was a great combination of academics, people, environment, and opportunities that greatly exceeded his expectations and more importantly students and professors that are genuinely happy to be at Grinnell. Grinnell allows Dimitriy to play tennis at a competitive level and play with teammates that are his best friends.

Aside from tennis, Dimitriy works in the athletic center, tutors economics courses, plays intramural basketball and soccer and loves eating in the dining hall—his favorite food to eat is the mint chocolate chip ice cream. His friends describe him as quiet, silly, smart, Russian, and outgoing at times and unique although he has a twin brother with the same DNA has him.

Academically, Dimitriy’s favorite courses are in Economics and Russian. During the 2010 summer he participated in a Mentored Advanced Project with Professor Kelly Herold in Russian studies. Overall, Dimitriy is very happy with his decision to transfer into Grinnell and loves being a Grinnellian.
