Purchasing a Gi
If you are interested in ordering your own gi (training uniform -- jacket, pants and belt) for aikido practice, the prices are below. We place an order at the beginning of each semester. Please make out a check for the proper amount payable to Iowa City Aikikai.
The club has a set of gis of various sizes for loan for those who don't wish to purchase their own. Please inquire if you're interested.

Caring for Your Gi
General Care Instructions:
Try on your gi before washing it the first time. Your wrists should be exposed (so they can be grabbed), and pants should be "floods" (above the ankles). Elbows and knees should be covered.
- If it seems really big, you should wash it initially in hot water and dry it in on high heat.
- If it seems just a little big, wash in warm water and dry in low heat (or drip dry). >br> - If it seems just right wash it in warm water and drip dry.
It is considered rude to show up in a dirty or smelly gi, so care for it and wash it after each practice. Only wear your gi during practice; wearing it should help you in separate the dojo from the world and give you focus.
