Jason Alexander ("Alex") Schechter '10 won the Henley Best in Show prize in this year's juried, student-run Annual Student Art Salon. The Salon will be on view in the Faulconer Gallery, at the heart of the Bucksbaum Center for the Arts, through Commencement, with works by non-graduating students remaining on view through June 6.
Schechter’s piece, Shrines for Ordinary Space, composed of acrylic paint on single-serving cereal boxes, made a strong impression on the show’s juror, Vancouver artist Jeff Hamada. “I was immediately drawn to this work and came back to examine it several times. There is a quiet beauty to the work,” said Hamada.
