Bob Grey Retiring“A. Bartlett Giamatti once said: ‘A liberal education is at the heart of a civil society, and at the heart of a liberal education is the act of teaching.’ ”
This quote was taken from the citation given as Professor Bob Grey was welcomed as an honorary class member of the Class of 2011 at Baccalaureate this past May. As of this coming Spring Semester Professor Grey will be leaving active teaching and entering Senior Faculty Status.
After 43 years of teaching at Grinnell, please join us in honoring Professor Grey as he closes one life's chapter and opens another by sending a note, a funny story, a photo, a remembrance, or just a thank you.
As members of his 1989 Fall Comparative Communist Revolutions tutorial (the year the Berlin Wall fell and ARH was remodeled), we have many fond memories of tutorial at Professor Grey’s house, trivial pursuit, and gathering for lunch in the dining hall on the eve of the Russian Revolution every year.  Both of us, like many of you, remain his friend to this day.
As fellow Political Science majors, we look forward to hearing your stories and sharing them with Professor Grey as he makes this transition.
