What topic or topics does “Dis/Unity and Difference” bring to mind? Who in your field might we invite to help us consider and discuss that topic/those topics? Please help the center plan meaningful programming around this theme.

To facilitate ongoing exploration and discussion of this broad theme, the center has decided to extend “Dis/Unity and Difference” for a full two academic years, 2018-2019 and 2019-2020.

The center will be sending out its invitations for the 2018-2019 academic year by the end of the (current) fall 2017 semester. For the center’s advisory board to consider your nomination for the 2018-2019 academic year, please submit your suggestion(s) by Wednesday, November 29. We will consider nominations that arrive after that date for the 2019-2020 academic year.

The advisory board will prioritize nominations that include clear—even if provisional—ideas around campus engagement beyond a public talk. This could include (but is not limited to) class visits; meetings with student organizations; workshops for students, faculty, or staff; or work in the broader Grinnell community. We are also especially interested in nominations that include potential collaborations with departments, centers/institutes, or other campus entities.

This description should include the anticipated contribution to curricular and/or co-curricular life. This could include class visits or other kinds of student engagement, workshops or meetings with interested faculty/staff, or engagement with the broader Grinnell community.
