The Umoja Conference is an annual program created by a network of African groups and organizations in the Midwest. The word "Umoja" is a Swahili word that means "Unity." The purpose of the Umoja Conference is to discuss pertinent issues concerning the African continent and African and Caribbean students, particularly in the diaspora.
This year the African and Caribbean Student Union (ACSU) of Grinnell College is proudly hosting this conference. The organization of the conference is largely student-based and there are many opportunities available for student volunteers. Please complete the following registration form if you would like to help make this event successful!
Volunteers
Conference Staff
Apply for Conference Staff. About 25 students designated as Conference Staff will be selected to staff the conference weekend. These volunteers will receive meals, t-shirts, and training sessions to enhance the conference experience for our guests. Staff members are required to attend all the events of the conference.   
Conference Host
Sign up as a Conference Host. Just like the prospie overnight stay, conference guests will be housed with students. ACSU seeks on-campus student volunteers to host our conference guests for a two-night stay. Hosts will be required to attend one informational session about the conference.
Conference Volunteers
Volunteer during the conference weekend. Umoja Conference weekend will require a number of volunteers to help with logistics, set up, clean up, and support conference staff. If you will be on campus during the campus weekend, consider signing up as a conference volunteer. Conference volunteers are not required to attend each event, only those in which they would like to help. You may register both as a volunteer and to attend the conference here.
Conference Planning Committee 
Join the Umoja Conference Planning Committee (UCPC). The Umoja Conference Planning Committee is comprised of ACSU cabinet members and student volunteers. These students serve on a number of subcommittees:
