The paste as plain text feature makes it easy to strip out the additional code that you copy from Word or a similar word processing program. Using it is equivalent to pasting and copying text into and out of Notepad or TextEdit.

When copying from Word or a similar word processing program:

  1. copy the text
  2. select the "Paste as Plain Text" button (see figure at right)
  3. paste the text into the box that pops up.

This will paste your text without the unnecessary and potentially dangerous code that can be pasted from other programs. This is an alternative to pasting into and copying out of Notepad.

Plain Text Lists

When you paste a list using the plain text interface, you paste the symbols for a list and not the actual list structure. When you paste a list, it's important to delete the symbols and create the bulleted or numbered list using the buttons provided by the WYSIWYG editor.
