Every student in college-owned residential housing may use the college voice mail system and have a private mailbox assigned. Voice messaging starts working as soon as you subscribe by answering callers with a standard greeting and storing their messages for you. When you use voice messaging for the first time, you will hear a tutorial which helps you set up a password, record your name and record a personalized greeting. Note: Read about the features of the Family (Multiple User) Mailbox.
1. Dial the Student Voice Mail access number (4319) from your room phone.
2. An introductory tutorial will play that walks you through setting up your mailbox. You have to listen to this tutorial and complete it before your mailbox is set up.
3. System instructs user to dial 9 to setup mailbox.
4. System offers 3 prompts; press 1 for recording your personal greeting (include your name if you wish); press 2 for setting a password (password must start with "1" and be 4-8 digits in length); and 8 for personal preferences (volume control).
5. The student has to record a personal greeting and establish a password before their mailbox is activated.
The number of voice mailboxes allocated is based upon room occupancy. The setup for a
double is one main mailbox plus one sub-mailbox; for a triple, one main mailbox plus two submailboxes; for a quad, one main mailbox plus three submailboxes.
The first individual that initiates their mailbox (the main mailbox) will first establish their own mailbox (steps 1-5) and then establish submailboxes for their roommates (steps 6-9). After the initial setup, the second (third and fourth) mailbox user will need to log in and change their password, greeting and name (steps 11-16).
