Parental Notification/FERPA

We expect students to communicate with their family and other support systems regarding their experience at Grinnell.

Most student information, including academic and student conduct reports, are communicated directly to students and are protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Student health and safety concerns are a top priority for College staff. In cases of serious illness or injury, students are encouraged to seek support through our Student Health and Counseling Services and contact their family. The College rarely calls family directly outside of life-threatening situations. For further questions about FERPA, please refer to our FERPA Frequently Asked Questions document.

If you have a concern for your student’s wellbeing while they are on campus, we encourage you to contact Student Assistance within the Division of Student Affairs.
