Frederick D. Collins of Scottsdale, Ariz., died Oct. 27, 2013, at the age of 89.

He was born on March 19, 1924, in Dallas Center to Glenn and Vera Collins. He graduated from Grinnell College in 1949. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in both WWII and the Korean War. Fred spent 38 years with the Maytag Company first as a regional manager in Somers, Conn. covering Hartford, Conn., and Springfield, Mass. He was promoted to export division sales manager and moved to the home office in Newton. His responsibility was mainly the Canadian Market and he worked with U.S. builders and distributors. He was a 50 year Rotarian. He founded the Rotary Club in Somers, Conn. He was a very avid golfer and shot his age many times. He liked to travel. He was a big sports fan and spent much time watching college and professional sports. He was actively involved in church life in Somers, Newton and Scottsdale. The most important thing in his life was his family.

He was married to Nadine Osincup for 60 years and had three children, David Collins, Lauren (David) Bohanan and Carolyn (Tom) Larsen. He had seven grandchildren, Jeffrey (Holly), Brian (Richelle), Steven Collins, Joel (Stacey) Taylor, Ahren Bohanan, Kristin and Alex Larsen and two great grandchildren, Jonathan (Brian and Richelle) Collins and Colton (Joel and Stacey) Taylor.

The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 at Mountain View Presbyterian Church at 8050 E. Mountain View Road, in Scottsdale, Ariz. 85260. Following the service, there will be a reception at Westminster Village.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials sent to Westminster Village Foundation at 12000 N. 90th Street, Scottsdale, AZ 85260 and Cornerstone Hospice at 7310 N. 16th Street, Suite 230, Phoenix, AZ 85020.
