2012 Student Alumni Award Winner
Kevin M. Jennison ’12 has brought his thoughtful and entrepreneurial approach to projects both in his academic life and extracurricular projects.
In the classroom, this biology major is praised not only for intelligence and responsibility, but also for “leading by fearless example.” He is not afraid to challenge conventional beliefs, but does so with an eye toward creating a more vibrant and useful discussion. In the process, he has earned one of the top grade-point averages in his class.
He is a leader outside the classroom as well. He was lead saxophonist for the Grinnell College Jazz Ensemble. He captained the volleyball club and was presiding officer of the Grinnell College Judicial Council.
He has also been willing to start, build, and expand new projects. He designed and taught economics courses at the Newton Correctional Facility. He helped teach an ExCo class on American Sign Language.
Perhaps his most remarkable accomplishment is his work as co-founder and president of Tab for a Cause, a Web-based company that helps raise money for charitable organizations through advertising revenue. The site and its extensions receive more than 4,000 visits a day.
Grinnell is proud to recognize Kevin M. Jennison ’12 for his commitment to excellence and his deeply enterprising spirit.
