How did South Korea recover from the devastation of the Korean War to become a role model for fast-paced economic development and innovation? Does Korea’s experience provide useful insights for other countries?

Eight dedicated students are learning about Korea’s economic miracle at the source, traveling to South Korea during the first two weeks in January to meet with Korean government officials, academics, business leaders and nonprofit organizations.

Follow Grinnellians in Korea, a blog by Maria Maysonet ’14, for daily updates from the trip.

Grinnell Trustee Kihwan Kim ’57 joined forces with economics professor Jack Mutti to provide this unique opportunity for the students in the fall special topic course, Korea’s Economic Development. Their trip is the most recent event in a history of connections between Grinnell and Korea.
