Theatre organizer, teacher, and playwright. Born on August 27, 1890, in Redfield, South Dakota. Hallie Flanagan was a creative force in theater and theater education as the head of the Federal Theatre Project. She got a bachelor's degree from Grinnell College in Iowa in 1911. Soon after she was married. Her husband died in 1919, leaving her with two children to support.
