Jazz musicians to play at Drake
Trumpeter Pat Harbison and saxophonist Damani Phillips team up for a concert at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 19 at Drake's Turner Jazz Center. Harbison teaches jazz at Indiana University and Phillips teaches jazz at Grinnell College; both have toured worldwide. Three local musicians will join them on stage: pianist Jason Danielson, drummer Damani Phillips and bassist David Altemeier. $15 for adults, $7 for students. www.midwestix.com
The visiting musicians will lead a pair of free workshops, at 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Jan. 19, and a free jam session at 1-4 p.m. Jan. 20.
