The tradition started when both boys still were living at home. Now that they've gone to college — Frank is a junior at Grinnell College and Adam is a freshman at Carleton College — it takes some creative scheduling to get everyone in the same place at the same time.
For instance, Frank Canady's winter break was less than a day old when he started ringing at 9 a.m. Saturday. His last final exam of the semester was Friday.
"I love it," the 21-year-old said. "It's a nice transition to come home to — a really nice way of integrating back to Iowa City and seeing some people."
