The segment linked above, which was broadcast this morning on NBC’s “Today” show, takes viewers behind the closed doors of the admissions process at Grinnell College in Iowa. Grinnell, which has received nearly 3,000 applications for an incoming freshman class of about 400, follows an intensive, holistic process similar to those used at dozens of other selective (and in some cases fiercely competitive) colleges, both public and private.

TODAY Show segment

The TODAY show crew shadowed Grinnell's admission committee for a day of application decision-making in early February as part of the network's ongoing "Education Nation" series.  The February segment follows an October 2010 admission segment that detailed the early steps in the application process.
