Born in Des Moines, Iowa, she earned a Bachelor of Science at Grinnell College and a Master of Arts from Illinois State University. Jude retired in 2000 as vice president of student affairs at Illinois State University after 32 years of service.

Jude had many roles and accomplishments during her career at ISU, including first university Affirmative Action officer for women; associate vice president for Student Affairs, 1973-1999, and vice president for Student Affairs, 1999-2000; NCAA Accreditation Committee, chair; commencement coordinator (facilitated change from one University-wide ceremony to college-based ceremonies with individual recognition); longtime Illinois State Redbird Athletics booster and Student Leadership programs supporter; ISU Annuitants Association, director; Annuitants Annual Membership Directory, coordinator; University Club, co-president; coordinator of the Gourmet Dinners Program; Red Tassel Chapter of Mortar Board, advisor; and Delta Delta Delta sorority advisor and honorary member.
