Robert was a poet, photographer, English teacher, and Grinnell College varsity tennis player who traveled extensively before Parkinson's overtook him. Possessed of three master's degrees (MBA, MAT, MA), he threatened to write a book called Getting the Third Degree. He was generous, warmhearted, and mischievous with a subtle, dry sense of humor; an activist primarily in the causes of conservation and peace. He especially loved children, animals, Grinnell College, jazz, the STL Symphony, University City (MO), and Robert Frost.
