The one-day workshop preceding the conference, "Playing Games with a Purpose: A New Approach to Teaching and Learning Statistics," will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 8 at the San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina.
This free workshop will be presented by Shonda Kuiper, Associate Professor and Chair of the Mathematics and Statistics Department at Grinnell College, and Rod Sturdivant, Associate and Academy Professor at the United States Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. and is designed to help instructors and undergraduate students see the benefits of using real-world problems and web-based games to teach and learn statistics.
