This year’s (LGBTQ) Pride Week features an award-winning Russian film, a keynote speaker who is one of the most prominent voices in the trans community, and, of course, the drag show.

Pride Week Keynote - Janet Mock. Queer People of Color and Transgender Advocacy Group present “A Night with Janet Mock: Redefining Realness”
Janet Mock is a writer, an activist, and the founder of the #Girlslikeus project. Her memoir, Redefining Realness: My Path to Womanhood, Identity, Love & So Much More, was published in February 2014. She uses media to expand our idea of womanhood and to hold the LGBT movement accountable to all trans and queer individuals, especially those from low-income and/or people of color communities.

Speakers: Dimitry Volchek and Anatoly Vishevsky

As Erik, a music student, is preparing to sing Schubert’s “Winterreise” for a competition, a chance meeting with Lyokha, a petty criminal, irrevocably alters his life. Called a “raw and evocative portrayal of alienation and transgression,” Winter Journey was written and directed by Sergei Teramaev and Lubov Lvova. The film won the London Lion Award at the Russian Film Festival in London and the Kinoclub Jury Prize at the Moscow Premiere Film Festival.

Come join your friendly, neighborhood GoGo editors for an evening of arts, crafts, and body positivity! We’re going to be making buttons for self-love and acceptance, so when you’re down in the dumps, this nifty little pin can serve as a reminder for you how lovely you truly are.

Scott Ross ’83 Pride Week Event with Alumni Relations
Scott received his bachelor of arts from Grinnell College and has done graduate work at Iowa State and Drake universities. He is a formalist using balance, shape, and bold color to achieve intriguing visual interpretations of the world that surrounds him. Two significant works of his are part of the permanent art collection at Grinnell College.

Do you have profound feelings about gender, sexuality, and trans identities? Are you interested in writing and ranting about these things? Transgender Advocacy Group has the event for you! We want to hear your best poems, rants, speeches, and monologues! There will be food.
This event is open and inclusive to individuals of all gender identities.
