Grinnell, IA - Center for Prairie Studies

On Thursday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in JRC 101 the Center for Prairie Studies will welcome Mary Swander, a distinguished professor at Iowa State University, to discuss her latest book Farmscape: The Changing Rural Environment, which asks how agriculture in Iowa has changed and how agriculture has changed Iowa.

This event will include readings by Swander and Harley McIlrath of the Grinnell College bookstore, who authored one of the book's essays. In addition, Grinnellians Robert Dimit, Pam McIlrtath and Mark Doty, who represent three generations in agriculture will be on a panel to share about their lives in farming and the changes they have witnessed.

Grinnell's Too Many String Band will perform prior to the readings and panel and refreshments will be served. This event is open to the public.
