GRINNELL, IA—New York string quartet ETHEL will perform on the Grinnell College campus Wed., Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Herrick Chapel.
Featuring two violinists, a violist, and cellist, ETHEL performs worldwide with a repertoire of original music as well as works by contemporary composers. The award-winning group incorporates amplification and improvisation into each program, offering “refreshing exuberance, fierce intensity, imaginative programming, and exceptional artistry.”
Described as “a relentlessly inventive string quartet setting the standard for new music engagement,” ETHEL has released several albums and appeared as guest artist on more than a dozen music labels.
Tickets are required for this free public performance and may be obtained at the Bucksbaum Center for the Arts box office, beginning Fri., Nov. 5. The string quartet will also perform throughout Faulconer Gallery on Tues., Nov. 9, beginning at 8 p.m., surrounded by the four-in-one “Culturing Community” exhibition. No tickets are required for this informal gallery event called “In the House of ETHEL.”
The quartet’s appearance at Grinnell is sponsored by the college’s Public Events Committee.
