Eulenspiegel Puppets in residence June 30-July 2

 

GRINNELL, IA-- The Eulenspiegel Puppets, known internationally for their inventive shows and beautifully crafted puppets, will be in residence at Grinnell College, June 30-July 2.

The company will host a series of shadow, finger, and hand puppet making and performance workshops, as well as two live performances. Some products from the workshops will be used in performance of “The Fisherman and His Wife” on July 2 at 7 p.m. in Faulconer Gallery. “Fisherman” is based on the classic Grimm’s fairy tale and open to a multi-generational audience.

The Eulenspiegel residency is made possible with funding from the Iowa Arts Council and partnerships with Grinnell College's Faulconer Gallery, Grinnell Area Arts Council, Drake Community Library/City of Grinnell, and the Grinnell Area Chamber of Commerce.

Activities during the Eulenspiegel Puppets residency include:

• June 30: Shadow puppet performance workshop, 9:30 a.m.-noon, Faulconer Gallery, for 3rd grade students through adults; registration required.

• June 30: Puppet potpourri performance by Eulenspiegel puppeteer Monica Leo, 1:30-3 p.m., Stewart Art Center; no registration required.

• July 1: Shadow puppet performance workshop, 9:30 a.m.-noon, Faulconer Gallery, for 3rd grade students through adults; registration required.

• July 1: Finger puppet workshop, 3:30-5 p.m., Farmer’s Market, Central Park; no registration required.

• July 2: Shadow puppet performance workshop, 9:30 a.m.-noon, Faulconer Gallery, for 3rd grade students through adults; registration required.

• July 2: Hand puppet workshop, 1:30-3 p.m., Drake Community Library, for 1st grade students and older; younger accompanied by caregiver; registration required.

• July 2: “The Fisherman and His Wife” performance by the Eulenspiegel Puppets and local puppeteers, 7 p.m., Faulconer Gallery.
