GRINNELL, IA—The Google Map (©2010 Google) for Iowa destinations will include Grinnell College when prospective students and their families participate in Iowa Private College Week, Aug. 2-6. Grinnell is one of 29 members of the Iowa Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (IAICU) to host students and families who want to jumpstart the college search process.
Grinnell Director of Admission Doug Badger said these initial campus visits “help families navigate what can be a very daunting process as they determine the best fit for their student’s future.” The private college tour week provides prospective students and families with opportunities to meet faculty and current students, learn about academic programs, and view campus facilities and residence halls.
Grinnell President Russell Osgood will greet families at daily information sessions at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. with faculty, staff, and current student leaders. Prospective students will receive a “passport” stamped at each private college on the tour. Students who visit three or more campuses and who enroll at a participating college are eligible for $500 bookstore drawings. Casey’s General Stores has also partnered with IAICU to offer gas discounts for families making campus visits during the week. To register for a Grinnell campus visit, call 800-247-0113, or pre-register for IPCW campus visits at www.thinkindependently.com.
