Smith, Bruce repeat at MWC Divers of the Year

For the second year in a row, Grinnell College’s Nick Smith ’10 and Kelly Bruce ’12 have been named Midwest Conference Divers of the Year.

Smith won the one- and three-meter men’s events at the MWC Championships over the weekend, while Bruce won the women’s crowns.

Smith recorded an NCAA provisional qualifying score in the one-meter event with a 426.95 and won the three-meter event with a 404.00. Bruce established NCAA provisional qualifying marks in one-meter diving (412.55) and the three-meter event (450.95).

Grinnell’s women won their 12th MWC team title in a row and the men won for the ninth consecutive time. Lake Forest College’s Becky Shaak and Alex Marks were named the MWC Women’s and Men’s Swimmers of the year, respectively, while Vadim Tashlitsky was named the MWC Men’s and Women’s Coach of the Year.
