On-Campus Programs

Discover Grinnell — Fall Semester

Every fall, we host two Discover Grinnell programs for high school seniors that allow you to spend the day exploring Grinnell’s academic and student life. You’ll have the chance to:

  • Attend class.
  • Tour campus.
  • Interact with current students and other prospective students.
  • Meet faculty and coaches.
  • Learn about the application and admission process.
  • Attend sessions on student life, the individually-advised curriculum, the First-Year Tutorial, study abroad, and research and internship opportunities.

Participants also have the chance to spend the night on campus. Spaces are limited, so reserve your spot early.

Fall 2014 Discover Grinnell dates and registration for the programs will be available this summer.

Please do not make travel arrangements until our visit coordinator has confirmed your reservation for the program and overnight stay.

Junior Visit Day — April

Are you a junior who’s already looking at colleges? Congratulations on getting a head start! We’ve designed a program just for you.

During your visit, you’ll:

  • Attend a class

    • Financial aid
    • Life beyond the classroom

Admitted Student Programs

You’ve applied and been accepted. Congratulations! We invite you to experience Grinnell’s endless possibilities at one of our admitted student programs, designed specifically for you.

Over the course of two days, you’ll have the chance to:

  • Attend class.
  • Tour campus.
  • Interact with current students and other prospective students.
  • Meet faculty and coaches.
  • Attend sessions on student life, the individually-advised curriculum, the First-Year Tutorial, study abroad, and research and internship opportunities

Participants also have the chance to spend the night on campus. Spaces are limited, so reserve your spot early.

Iowa Private College Week – August

Daily sessions from 9 a.m.–noon and from 1:30–4:30 p.m.

Iowa Private College Week (IPCW) is a weeklong program during which independent Iowa colleges and universities invite prospective students and their families to explore their campuses. It's a great time for prospective students to learn about Grinnell’s academic and social opportunities and to meet with faculty, coaches, students and staff.

This year IPCW will be held Aug. 4–8, 2014. There are two sessions each day, beginning at 9 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m. Each session includes a welcome, campus tour, admission and financial aid presentation, and panel discussions with student affairs staff, faculty members, and students.

You can register online through our campus visit calendar, and you can select the date and session that works best for your schedule.

Once you’ve registered online, you will receive a confirmation email from us at the email address you’ve provided.

If you register through Thinkindependently.com, you will receive an email confirmation from us in three to five business days.

Diversity Preview Program — Fall Semester

The Grinnell Diversity Preview Program offers you the chance to apply for a FREE trip to campus so you can discover your place at one of the nation's top liberal arts colleges. The 2014 Diversity Preview Program will be held from September 28 – 29, 2014.

Download the Diversity Preview Program Application 2014 or submit an application online, but please note the application requirements listed below.

Program participants will:

  • Stay overnight with a current student host
  • Go on a tour of the Grinnell campus
  • Attend classes
  • Attend an information session on admission and financial aid
  • Meet campus leaders
  • Have lunch with professors and admission staff

Application requirements:

  • Applicants must be high school seniors
  • Student of color (African American, Latino, Asian, Native American) OR first in family to attend college
  • Interest in liberal arts education (arts and humanities, mathematics and sciences, social sciences)
  • Submit the Diversity Preview Program Application 2014 or submit an application online.
  • High school transcript with SAT/ACT
  • Activities resumé

Applications are due by September 1, 2014, and will not be reviewed until the deadline has passed. The program is scheduled from September 28-29. Please note that the Diversity Preview Program cannot accept applications from international students or transfer applicants.
