Enterprise Car Rental

Grinnell College Policy For Enterprise Rent A Car Transportation

Questions and Answers

Q. Who can use this service?

A. Grinnell College uses Enterprise Rent A Car to supplement our college carpool service.  The College and Enterprise Rent A Car are working together to provide efficient, low cost transportation for:   one-way Des Moines or Cedar Rapids Airport trips; transportation to and from other destinations; and also personal transportation.

This service is to be used by the following:   employees, students conducting college business and guests (speakers, consultants, some job applicants).   If a guest to campus is to use this one-way airport service, the arrangements with Enterprise will need to be made by College personnel.  All who drive Enterprise rental cars must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.   If you are asked to make regular reservations for specific persons, forward Enterprise in Marshalltown the following information for each driver: full name; home/work address; drivers license number and expiration date; driver's birth date and cell phone number.  This information will help to expedite the reservation process.  The Marshalltown Enterprise office FAX number is 1-641-752-1377.

Q.  Can I make an Enterprise vehicle reservation online?

A.  Yes.  In fact, there are links on Pioneer Web for your convenience.  (See instructions below.)  Remember an account number is required to make a reservation.

Q.  Can I use Enterprise for personal trips?

A.  Yes.  You can choose either business or personal in the first window.  You will be charged the same rate as the college when using the online reservation form.

Q. How do I make a reservation with Enterprise Rent A Car?

A.  Directions for making an Enterprise reservation online, their preferred method, are as follows:  Go to Pioneer Web.  Please log in, click the “Services” tab and you will find the links for either a one-way or round-trip reservation.  The first window, after selecting either business or personal, will ask for location.  If this trip is originating out of Grinnell, enter Marshalltown, Iowa.  Enterprise will know the vehicle needs to be delivered to the Security office on campus if the reservation is made through Pioneer Web.  If you are making a reservation for a personal rental on the telephone, you will need to mention you are an employee of Grinnell College.

If this is a one-way trip to Grinnell from the airport, enter the airport location and proceed from there.  Please allow at least an extra hour from delivery time request until the time you must leave.  If you are needing a vehicle without a day’s notice, make your reservation by calling the Enterprise office in Marshalltown at 641-752-1000 or 800-257-1136.  If you are unable to reach anyone at this number, you can leave a message or call 515-233-5200.

You must provide date of trip, time of departure (please allow at least an extra hour from delivery time request until the time you must leave), specify size of car (our College carpool cars are in the “intermediate” size category, larger cars will cost more money) (vehicles intermediate and smaller are not guaranteed to have cruise control) and you must provide the account number to which the trip will be charged.  Enterprise will NOT make a vehicle reservation unless an account number is provided.  Indicate the direction of the one way trip- either to or from the Des Moines airport.  Enterprise can make arrangements for transportation in both directions with one phone call if you know those details.   It is a good idea to double check these transportation arrangements with Enterprise, particularly if these arrangements are made well ahead of time.  Always ask for the reservation confirmation number for ease of future reference, and keep good records of reservation requests and cancellations to clarify later billing questions.

We strongly urge you to check to make sure your vehicle has been delivered during Enterprise office hours if your trip is time sensitive.

Q.  What if I need the rental car before or after office hours or on the weekend?

A.  The Enterprise office hours in Marshalltown are 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, closed Saturdays and Sundays.  They must deliver vehicles on Friday for a Saturday, Sunday or early Monday departure time, and the earliest they can deliver a car is at 9:00 AM.  There will be a $9.99 per day early drop-off charge.  You may want to check your invoices carefully to make sure the billing is correct.

Q.  Can I pick up my car on Saturday if it has already been delivered for my early Monday morning trip?

A.  Yes.  The daily charge allows for you to have the vehicle at your residence once the vehicle has been delivered.

Q.  What if I need to cancel my reservation?

A.  Please call Enterprise as soon as you realize you are not needing the vehicle.

Q. Where do I pick up my Enterprise vehicle?

A.  For trips TO the airport, Enterprise vehicles must be picked up at Security at 1432 East Street.  Pick up the keys and sign the appropriate paperwork at the Security office.  Drop the Enterprise vehicle off at the Enterprise Rent A Car return lot at the airport.  Follow the arrows to this lot once you enter the main gate.

For personal trips originating in Grinnell, Enterprise Rent-A-Car will either deliver the vehicle to you at an agreed upon time (meeting you in person) OR pick you up and take
