There are many organizations that typically offer room, board, and a small stipend in exchange for a year or two of post-graduation volunteer work. Some of these organizations also offer transportation to and from your work location, health insurance, or student loan deferment - check with the individual organization to find out the details of benefits, as well as what is expected of you as a volunteer.

You'll notice that most of these organizations are sponsored by religious groups. You should look at each group carefully to ensure that you agree with the mission and purpose of the organization. Some religious organizations will only allow members of that denomination to work with them and expect volunteers to proselytize, whereas others simply require that you show respect for their religion, enter their volunteer program with an open mind, or demonstrate your faith through your volunteer work.
