Wanted: Liberal Arts Geek
We are looking for someone who can WRITE, but who also has some experience as a Linux/Unix system administator. We have a major contract that involves the production of messloads of technical documentation. The project requires more breadth than depth, but an understanding of computer networks and network protocols is a big plus.
(If you took and enjoyed Grinnell's CSC 364 you get bonus points.) "Professional" experience as a sys admin is not required, however you should be familiar with the management of Linux/Unix systems and virtual machines (XEN/VMware). If much of your experience comes from running your own home network and debugging it at 3am, even better. You will also need to have some familiarity with MS-Windows (sorry). The ability to recite Monty Python from memory is yet another plus (knowing when NOT to recite Monty Python is also appreciated by some).
This position is intended to be a starting point for a career in data networking and storage systems. The successful candidate may start from scratch but will learn a lot.
We are located in St. Paul, Minnesota. This would be a full-time salaried position with benefits starting ASAP. Please send a resume and cover letter to Rachel A. Hertel '86, CEO of ubiqx Consulting, Inc. at rah@ubiqx.com. Our website is
