Company/Location: Borman Entertainment, Hendersonville, TN

Position Title of Alumnus & Description: Head of Digital Business Development - Business development, digital and mobile sales & marketing for an artist management team.

Length of Stay & Dates Available: 5 days, flexible

Housing Available? If yes, where?: Yes, alumnus' home

What will you get from this externship: Being part of an artist management team will allow an extern to learn the inner workings of the music industry and how artists, labels and marketing partners work together.

Additional Information: We have two dogs (if anyone has allergies).

 

Fundraising/Development

Jennifer Halcrow '87 (Political Science); M.P.A., Nonprofit Management – University of Minnesota

Company/Location: MacPhail Center for Music, Minneapolis, MN

Position Title of Alumnus & Description: Vice President of Advancement - Lead team of 8 fundraising and marketing professionals generating $9.7m+ annually by enrolling 9,000+ students of all ages and abilities and generating $2.5m+ in contributed revenue.

Length of Stay & Dates Available: 5 days, March 18-22

Housing Available? If yes, where?: No, student is responsible for own housing

What will you get from this externship: Extern will participate in fundraising and marketing activities for nonprofit music school. Examples of experiences, dependent on student knowledge/experience, may include developing key messages aligning direct response receipt letters with appeals, researching social media campaigns developed by nonprofit organizations as part of a direct response program, analyzing effectiveness of direct response appeals, and assisting with student and teaching artist performances as usher and reception host.

 

Historical Museum

Trevor Jones '94 (History/German); M.A., History & Certificate, Museum Studies – University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee

Company/Location: Kentucky Historical Society, Frankfort, Kentucky

Position Title of Alumnus & Description: Director, Collections & Exhibitions - I manage a division responsible for over 100,000 historical artifacts in three buildings as well as a program of permanent and rotating exhibitions.

Length of Stay & Dates Available: 3-5 days, prefer sometime between March 23-30

Housing Available? If yes, where?: Yes, alumnus' home

What will you get from this externship: The extern will gain an understanding of the variety and type of museum work with a focus on collections. The extern will gain hands-on experience with cataloging historical artifacts in an AAM accredited institution. The student will be able to work with, observe, and talk with staff, interns and volunteers. If desired, we can set up meetings with staff in other divisions (education, finance, library, etc). This will be a good experience for a student considering the possibility of a museum career.

Additional Information: The extern doesn't need a car, but having one may be useful. We have cats (in case allergies).
