NETHERLANDS’ CATCH GUITAR TO PERFORM ON GRINNELL CAMPUS
GRINNELL, IA - Grinnell College will host the Netherlands’ CATCH Guitar Quartet on Fri., May 9, at 4:30 p.m. in Sebring-Lewis Hall of the Bucksbaum Center for the Arts on the Grinnell College campus. The electric guitar program will also feature a work composed by Grinnell College assistant professor of music Alan Tormey.
The Amsterdam-based CATCH quartet was formed from a near 20-year collaboration of four members from rock bands, improv groups, and contemporary ensembles. The electric guitar quartet has been involved in several premiere performances and was in residence at Princeton University in 2007 where they performed seven new works. While at Grinnell, CATCH will also conduct master classes and composition workshops with students.
The Quartet appearance at Grinnell College is sponsored by the College’s Department of Music, the Public Event Committee, the Center for International Studies, the Nederland Fonds Voor Podium Kunsten, and Gaudeamus Contemporary Music Center.
