Dennis Kuo of Ames receives a Bowen Scholarship from Grinnell College
Dennis Kuo, son of Mon-Lin and Carol Kuo, has received a Howard R. Bowen Scholarship from Grinnell College.
Dennis, who graduated from Ames High School, plans to attend Grinnell College in the fall. While in high school Dennis participated in band and cross country. He was a state gold medal winner and state champion in science olympiad. Dennis also received his Eagle Scout award in Boys Scouts.
Kuo was selected from more than 80 Iowa students who took a written examination. Based on the exam results 15 semifinalists were invited to interview with faculty and staff from Grinnell College. The other recipients are: Cyrus Mistry of West Des Moines, Luke Saunders of Sioux City, Gwen Varley of Stuart, and Matt Zmudka of Dubuque.
Cyrus Mistry of West Des Moines receives a Bowen Scholarship from Grinnell College
Cyrus Mistry, son of Bomi and Louise Mistry, has received a Howard R. Bowen Scholarship from Grinnell College.
Cy, who graduated from Valley High School, plans to attend Grinnell College in the fall. While in high school Cy participated in National Honors Society, outdoors club, and community service. Cy was also the co-captain of the swim team.
Mistry was selected from more than 80 Iowa students who took a written examination. Based on the exam results 15 semifinalists were invited to interview with faculty and staff from Grinnell College. The other recipients are: Dennis Kuo of Ames, Luke Saunders of Sioux City, Gwen Varley of Stuart, and Matt Zmudka of Dubuque.
Luke Saunders of Sioux City receives a Bowen Scholarship from Grinnell College
Luke Saunders, son of William and Patricia Saunders, has received a Howard R. Bowen Scholarship from Grinnell College.
Luke, who graduated from Sergeant Bluff-Luton High School, plans to attend Grinnell College in the fall. While in high school Luke participated in student council, theater, quiz bowl, and the district advisory committee. He also was an All State Honor Choir participant and president of the Mayor's Youth Commission.
Saunders was selected from more than 80 Iowa students who took a written examination. Based on the exam results 15 semifinalists were invited to interview with faculty and staff from Grinnell College. The other recipients are: Dennis Kuo of Ames, Cyrus Mistry of West Des Moines, Gwen Varley of Stuart, and Matt Zmudka of Dubuque.
Gwendolyn Varley of Stuart receives a Bowen Scholarship from Grinnell College
Gwendolyn Varley, daughter of Warren and Karen Varley, has received a Howard R. Bowen Scholarship from Grinnell College.
Gwen, who graduated from West Central Valley High School, plans to attend Grinnell College in the fall. While in high school Gwen participated in band, community service, art club, and 4H. She was a state participant in debate/speech.
Varley was selected from more than 80 Iowa students who took a written examination. Based on the exam results 15 semifinalists were invited to interview with faculty and staff from Grinnell College. The other recipients are: Dennis Kuo of Ames, Cyrus Mistry of West Des Moines, Luke Saunders of Sioux City, and Matt Zmudka of Dubuque.
Matthew Zmudka of Dubuque receives a Bowen Scholarship from Grinnell College
Matthew Zmudka, son of William and Lori Zmudka, has received a Howard R. Bowen Scholarship from Grinnell College.
Matt, who graduated from Hempstead High School, plans to attend Grinnell College in the fall. While in high school Matt participated in key club, newspaper, debate, student senate, and numerous other clubs and organizations. He was an All State participant in speech and a member of the Youth Area Philanthropists.
Zmudka was selected from more than 80 Iowa students who took a written examination. Based on the exam results 15 semifinalists were invited to interview with faculty and staff from Grinnell College. The other recipients are: Dennis Kuo of Ames, Cyrus Mistry of West Des Moines, Luke Saunders of Sioux City, and Gwen Varley of Stuart.
