CHIARA STRING QUARTET TO PERFORM AT GRINNELL COLLEGE
The Grinnell College Department of Music will sponsor a performance by the Chiara String Quartet on Nov. 3 at 8 p.m. in Herrick Chapel on the Grinnell College campus.
The Quartet will perform "Mestizaje: Harmony of Differences," featuring works by composers who have chosen to compose in and between two cultures. "Mestizaje" premiered in New York in January and was regarded by the New York Times as "a luminous performance, ranging from glowing warmth to hard-edged acerbity."
The Chiara Quartet trained and taught at The Julliard School and since 2005, has been in-residence at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where they are developing a program in music entrepreneurship. In 2008, the quartet will begin a residency at Harvard University.
The Chiara String Quartet performance is free and open to the public; no tickets are required. Herrick Chapel is located at the intersection of 7th Ave. and Park St. on the Grinnell College campus.
