GRINNELL SINGERS TO PERFORM FALL CONCERT
The Grinnell Singers, a 50-member student ensemble, will perform in concert on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. in Sebring-Lewis Hall of the Bucksbaum Center for the Arts on the Grinnell College campus.
The Grinnell Singers, directed by John Rommereim, professor of music, will perform a program that includes three masterpieces from the unaccompanied choral repertoire: J. S. Bach's motet, "Der Geist hilft unsrer Schwachheit auf" for double choir; "Lorca Suite," by the Finnish composer Einjuhani Rautavaara; and Rachmaninov's "Choral Concerto."
The concert will also include Eric Whitacre's haunting "Night Music;" "Go Down Moses" with guest soprano Randye Jones; Rommereim's "Amid the Scent of Absinthe and Moringa;" and Gyorgii Sviridov's "The Magpie." Grinnell students Jacob Sagrans and Natti Tipayamongkol will guest conduct.
The Grinnell Singers performance is free and open to the public; no tickets are required. The Bucksbaum Center for the Arts is located 1108 Park St. on the Grinnell College campus. For more information about the Grinnell Singers, go to http://web.grinnell.edu/music/ensembles/singers/index.html
