TRANSNATIONAL FEMINIST SCHOLAR VISITS GRINNELL COLLEGE
Grinnell College’s Center for the Humanities will host a lecture by feminist scholar M. Jacqui Alexander, on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 4:15 p.m. in the Joe Rosenfield ’25 Center, Room 101, on the Grinnell College campus. A distinguished visiting professor at Grinnell this semester, Alexander will discuss "Transnational Feminism and Sexuality Studies" and highlight the contributions to be made to North American feminist theory, queer studies, and critical race theory through inclusion around the globe.
Alexander is a professor of women’s studies and gender studies at the University of Toronto. Her most recent publication, "Pedagogies of Crossing," is a collection of essays she has written over the past 10 years about the phenomena of sexual norms, capitalism, and exercised global power.
Alexander is the fourth and final lecturer sponsored by the Center for the Humanities this semester on the topic of "Thinking Interdisciplinarity." The visiting professors spend three weeks each on the campus, teaching upper-level seminars and public lectures.
