GRINNELL COLLEGE STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS OFFER FREE PERFORMANCES
GRINNELL, Iowa - Two Grinnell College student organizations are opening Dec. 1 campus events to the public with free admission.
On Saturday, Dec. 1 at 8 p.m., Grinnell’s Student Government Association will sponsor a concert by songwriter and guitarist Mason Jennings in Herrick Chapel on the Grinnell College campus. Jennings recently released a new album, "Boneclouds" (Glacial Pace/Epic), which reflects "the hidden struggles and neglected dreams that have come to infuse most of modern-day life. His songs provide unique insights that offer hope, honesty and, above all, faith in life." Iowa native Pieta Brown will open the Jennings concert.
Also at 8 p.m., the Grinnell student group ASIA (Asian Students in Alliance) will sponsor a performance by comedian Eliot Chang in Harris Center Concert Hall. Chang, whose performances are described as "honest, raw, and never predictable," has appeared with Comedy Central and Spike TV. After the show, Chang will hold a question-and-answer session titled "Asians in the Media" about his personal experience with diversity issues.
Admission to these events is free but tickets are required and may be obtained at the Bucksbaum Center for the Arts ticket office. Will call service is also available by calling 641-269-4444.
Herrick Chapel is located at the intersection of 7th Ave. and Park St., and the Harris Center is located at 1114 10th Ave. on the Grinnell College campus. Box office and ticket information is available at http://web.grinnell.edu/theatre/facilities/box_office.html. -30-
