GRINNELL COLLEGE COMMUNITY CHORUS TO PERFORM SUNDAY
GRINNELL, Iowa - The Grinnell College Community Chorus will present Joseph Haydn’s "Nelson" Mass on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 2:00 p.m. in Sebring-Lewis Hall on the Grinnell College campus. "Nelson" Mass is one of Haydn’s most powerful and dramatic choral works. Also known as "Mass in Times of Affliction," the title refers to the warfare that plagued Europe during the time of Haydn’s 1798 composition.
Directed by John Rommereim, professor of music, the mixed chorus will be joined by Colleen Jennings, soprano soloist; Vivien Shotwell, alto soloist; Michael Oxley, applied music associate and tenor soloist; and Nicholas Malinowski, bass soloist. Malinowski, a 2004 Grinnell graduate, is a student at the Mannes College of Music in New York, where he is completing a master’s degree in vocal performance.
Sebring-Lewis Hall is located in the Bucksbaum Center for the Arts, 1108 Park St. on the Grinnell College campus. For more information about Grinnell College music events, go to http://www.grinnell.edu/academic/music/events/
