Current Position
Since 2001, Jeff has served at the Senior Pastor at the Miami Lakes Congregational
Church, United Church of Christ, in Miami Lakes, Florida. "My primary duties include
preaching and worship leadership, administration, teaching Bible Study and other
classes related to spiritual growth, pastoring (taking care of the flock through
visitations, email, letters, phone calls etc.), and Christian outreach
commitments, both in the community and beyond."
Career Path
Jeff holds a Master of Divinity degree from the American Baptist
Seminary of the West and the Graduate Theological Union, in Berkeley, CA (1976)
and a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Pacific School of Religion in
Berkeley, CA (1997).
"I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Panama for two years in the late sixties,
played professional basketball in Portugal for a year in 1970, and worked for
the Office of Economic Opportunity as a Youth Development Director in suburban
Chicago for two years in the early seventies. My commitments were always in the
social justice arena."
Grinnell Experience
Jeff majored in psychology at Grinnell and notes "extracurricular participation always
shapes us in helpful ways. Sports (basketball and football) and dorm government
(president of my dorm) served this purpose for me during my time at Grinnell."
