Current Position
" I am the Rector (Head Pastor) of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Wenonah, New Jersey. I am in
charge of leading worship, making pastoral calls, doing emergency counseling, performing weddings,
baptisms, and funerals, and taking communion to sick and shut in people." Father Zelley has served this
church for seven years.
Career Path
"I received an MDiv degree from the Episcopal Divinity School in 1993. I am currently part of the Clergy
Leadership Project, sponsored by Trinity Wall Street.
"Upon graduating from Grinnell I served as an Admissions Counselor at Mt. St. Mary College in Newburgh
NY. I left to pursue ordination in the Episcopal Church. I spent one year as a bank teller, while waiting
approval to go to seminary. After graduating from seminary I was the assistant at Grace Church
in Haddonfield for 2 1/2 years before being called to my current position."
Grinnell Experience
A history major at Grinnell, Father Zelley notes the importance of several extracurricular activities to his
work as a pastor. "Singing in the choir helped my singing, being a DJ made me comfortable speaking out
loud, and playing soccer and rugby helped me gain confidence working with others."
How He Can Help
He would be happy working on an internship or shadowing experience with students considering the Episcopal clergy as a vocation, "or just talking with a student thinking about a religious vocation of any kind."
