Join us for Christian worship in an African-American tradition. Deacon Arnold Woods, Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Des Moines and Director of Student Financial Aid at Grinnell College will be preaching. The Young Gifted and Black Gospel Choir (YGB) will sing, Barry Jones director.
We will be taking a special collection for the Booth Family.
Also this weekend daylight savings time begins .. so “spring forward”, set your clocks ahead one hour on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at 2 a.m..

Lenten Organ Music

Grinnell College Organist Linda Bryant will present a program titled “From Joy to Despair to Triumph: A Holy Week Reflection”. The 45 minute program will include both hymn-based and non-hymn based music by composers J.S. Bach, Samuel Barber, John Behnke, Johannes Brahms, Michael Burkhardt, Edouard Nies-Berger and Flor Peeters. The program is free and open to the public.

Grinnell Community Meal
Served every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at Davis School corner of Hamilton and Main. The meal is free, and open to the public. The Community Meal is coordinated and sponsored by the Social Justice Action Group for more information or if your group would like to prepare a meal, please contact X4597 or X4981.

The Social Justice Action Group is collecting travel-sized and regular toiletries this month for the Iowa Correctional Institute for Women. These toiletries will be packaged in holiday gift baskets for the inmates at the prison in Mitchellville. If you would like to donate shampoo, conditioner, body wash, chapstick, soap, or deodorant, please drop off your items in the marked box in the mail room. The donations will be collected on March 19th.

Prayer & Praise Power Break

Lilly Internship/Externships and Post-Graduate Fellowships

In keeping with the objectives of the Lilly grant, this program should promote personal spiritual growth and vocational discernment.
• Lilly Externship
Available to first-year students only.
This program encourages students to find or develop their own four-week externship.
• Lilly-sponsored Internship
Available to second and third-year students only.
This program encourages students to find or develop their own eight-ten week internship.

• Lilly Post-Graduate Fellowships
Available to graduating seniors and alumni only.
For those who apply and are accepted to an accredited degree-granting graduate school program which will lead to becoming a religious professional. These fellowships are for one year, renewable for one additional year.

The Chaplain's Office welcomes faculty, staff and students to call for an appointment to arrange counseling sessions or private conversations.(note: sessions are not geared towards religious context unless you bring it up.
