Musicians Jeffery Agrell, Associate Professor of Horn, University of Iowa and Matt Smart will perform a concert of improvisational music responding to works in the exhibition.

Yoga in the Gallery

Mondays and Thursdays
January 28 – March 14, 12:15 – 12:50 p.m.

Connecting breath and movement, this short 30-minute yoga practice offers a midday break. Enjoy warming and invigorating poses, finishing with a period of relaxation. For beginners and experienced practitioners. Mats provided. Co-sponsored by Faulconer Gallery and Live Well Grinnell.

Community Day: Let Them Eat Cake! And Other Fun Activities

February 16, 1:30 – 3 p.m.

People of all ages are welcome to tour the exhibition. We will make elaborate wigs fit to be worn in the Palace of Versailles, eat cake, and do other fun hands-on activities related to the works on view.

Special Event: Jacob Wood and William McNulty, Team Rubicon, "Team Rubicon: Military Veterans and Emergency Response"

February 25, 4:15 p.m.

With a backdrop of Polidori's photographs of Hurricane Katrina, the founders of Team Rubicon will describe their work using teams of U.S. military veterans to provide disaster relief, as in their recent biggest-ever mobilization for Hurricane Sandy, and their innovative adaptation of veterans' skills to continue to serve others. Wood and McNulty will also be presented with their 2012 Grinnell Prize medals and commemorative artwork. Co-sponsored by the Grinnell Prize, Rosenfield Program and Faulconer Gallery.

Panel: Behind the Scenes at Versailles: Art, Theater, Opera and Court

February 26, 4:15 p.m.

David Harrison, Professor of French & Director, Center for International Studies; Jennifer Brown, Associate Professor of Music;
Kelly Maynard, Assistant Professor of History;
and Vanessa Lyon, Assistant Professor of Art will present a panel on art, opera, baroque music and the court of Versailles.

Gallery Talk: The Russian Meltdown

March 12, 4:15 p.m.
Edward Cohn, Assistant Professor of History, will speak on the political impact of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster pictured in some of Polidori's photographs.
