Re: Locally-based Projects
In keeping with Grinnell College's recent celebration of 150 years in Grinnell, the Office
of Community Enhancement would like to better understand the scope of work that the
Grinnell College faculty is engaged in that has ties to our local community.
We would like to capture the full range of such work, including that which intentionally
sets out to explore our local 'place' and its people as well as that which simply utilizes
the surrounding area as an interactive learning laboratory. The goal is to make this
information available on-line, providing 'one-stop-shopping' for those interested in
learning about the community-based work undertaken on campus. Ultimately, I hope
this will:
- Showcase the great work that people are doing with the community
- Provide a source of communication and inspiration on-campus for those interested in similar undertakings
- Act as a resource for people and organizations off-campus
If you have had ties with the local community through any aspect of your professional
life, or could envision this kind of activity in the future, I would greatly appreciate 5-10
minutes of your time to tell me more about it. I hope to compile the information and
publish the resource on-line this semester.
Thank you in advance for your help.
With best regards,
Monica
