On a hot, sunny day in May, the class of 2010 donned black robes and mortar boards in the time-honored ceremony of Commencement.  From the opening carillon to the closing picnic, graduates, family, and friends celebrated this time of transition.

In his Commencement Address, Jeffrey Sachs, director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University, encourages students to take Grinnell values and "go forward to show what you can do to improve the world," while honorary degree recipients Lonabelle "Kappie" Kaplan Spencer ’47 and Sam Tanenhaus ’77 offered words of wisdom and encouragement  drawn from their own lives.
