ISC Minutes

Noon, Faculty House
Attending: Katya Gibel Azoulay, Susan Ireland, Vince Eckhart, Bob Cadmus, Shuchi Kapila, Mark Schneider, David Ellison, Christopher McKee, Bill Francis, Helen Scott, Jon Chenette, John Kalkbrenner, Terri Phipps
The purpose of this meeting was to introduce new committee members, discuss what had been accomplished, issues faced by the committee, and possible items to consider in the coming year.
Vince began by sharing the mission and duties of ISC as outlined in the Faculty Handbook, and reminded members that responsibilities of the Library/Bookstore and Academic Computing Committees had been folded into this committee's purview.
Bob Cadmus has agreed to serve as chair for the coming year.
Responsibilities of the Chair include:
- Communicating with the Associate Dean
- Communicating with ex-officio members
- Writing responses to faculty regarding proposal decisions
- Writing official memos to administration and faculty
- Writing final report

Many of these tasks can be delegated to committee members. The Chair can also receive support from the Associate Deans' office as needed to alleviate workload burden.
David Ellison will be on leave in Spring 2005. The committee will need to decide how they wish to handle his absence.
