Issue of including individuals' names in the minutes was discussed. It was suggested to list faculty names whose proposals are funded, but not in proposals that were denied. Another suggestion was to list all proposals with names included on the appropriate meeting agenda, but not include names in the minutes when the decisions are made. The ISC would like to maintain an open, communicative relationship with the faculty. Jon will talk to Jim Swartz to see why being vague in the minutes is standard procedure, and specifically if naming individuals constitutes a legal issue for the college. If it is an issue of minutes being completely accessible, could we limit access to on-campus use only? Minutes of September 15 approved once Ivan Perry's name is added to MAP support from AV Center. The issue of including names will be addressed at the next meeting. Rebelsky/Computer Science: Request for conference funding. CSFS forwarded the request to ISC. Their perspective was that the conference was pedagogical in nature. Some ISC members stated that since he may be giving a paper, the conference would be related more to scholarship. Faculty member will not know whether he will be giving a paper until after conference registration. ISC approves $900 of request. If faculty will give a paper, ISC will ask CSFS to split the cost. American Studies Workshop: Scheduled for December 13. Request up to $300 for books for participants. Approved. Student representatives on ISC: SGA has no one in mind yet. SACC has not responded. CFFLS will discuss the AV Center at their meeting on Tuesday. ISC will address this issue once we hear from them. Library planning meeting with Shepley Bullfinch, November 3 from 11:00-3:30. ISC needs to have a representative at the meeting. David Ellison will be the representative. Bob will check with President Osgood to see if more than one member can attend. Mark and Katya are also available and willing to attend. Bob distributed
a document outlining projects previously funded by ISC. Members should
read the document in preparation for the next meeting. Furniture preference: This issue related to the type of room requested when submitting a course schedule, not furniture replacement. Can windows be an option to request? |
