Faculty at Grinnell generate valuable numeric datasets in the course of research and teaching, but there is no system currently in place for capturing this data and making it available to a wider audience. At this lunch we will demonstrate and discuss DataVerse, a system developed by the Institute for Quantitative Social Science at Harvard University, to preserve and disseminate this data. Would Grinnell faculty find this system useful, and what policy issues might using it raise? Everyone who works with data that fits in a spreadsheet and who is interested in having this type of data more widely shared is invited!
